Dreamteam Calamaties: The Find published.
Jul. 9th, 2004 09:20 amWell, they're as ready as they can get. Yes, each story as a standalone is really good, probably some of the better stuff I've written in a long time. On the other hand, reading them once more I realized there's not enough cross-story chatter; these characters talk about how much they care about one another, but I felt there could be more showing and less telling.
Still, the prime point of these stories was that Shardik hadn't been getting much loving in the past couple of stories, and I decided to come up with an idea that would get him laid. I took a page from the traditional "harem anime" concept, but like a lot of those stories, the fans don't get into them unless the story is about something.
The theme of Dreamteam Calamaties is fundamental: who are you if you don't understand where your wants and desires come from? How do you come to terms when your own wants and needs conflict with each other? And, interestingly enough (even for the author), the two characters with the strongest opinions on the matter come to completely different conclusions.
Episodes will be published every Friday for the next six weeks. Enjoy! If you want to know the contents, look at alt.sex.stories over the next few days; I do label my ASSD posts with story codes.

Date: 2004-07-09 04:50 pm (UTC)I can't wait to read it fully once I get my printer up and going. I don't have time to do it at work.
As usual you do write better than I, my in years as I read your flow....I'll learn something....Plus it's different from all the novels I've collecting, Like Nelson Doubleday. Keep up with the imagination and good adventures. I really enjoy reading your stuff. I just wish I can write as fast as you can and put it together.

Date: 2004-07-10 10:53 am (UTC)a. Shardik Castle is now a Villa (possibly meaning it's no longer an administrative center)
b. The Genesis 2:19 church is now larger, a cathedral
c. Dave's comment that most religious centers closed after 1116 (possibly the date that Shardik, et. al. withdrew from public life and left the keys with Tylia).
I've read it twice so far, and that's what I've picked out.
I can't wait to read the rest of it.

Date: 2004-07-10 12:04 pm (UTC)I should have been more specific. After 1116 (the year 3000 A.D.), Christianity has a bit of a falling off (it's still around, and there are more religious characters in later stories). The Genesis 2:19 Cathedral was a victim of that post-millenialist hangover.
Religion is still a big factor in many peoples', even Pendorians', lives. There not all rabid Randite or Marxist atheists. The biggest screaming matches over Terra are still abaout who gets to maintain which rock somewhere in Jerusalem.

Date: 2004-07-11 09:50 am (UTC)First occurance seems to be the wolves in "The Wolves" (966)
Second was siss-talek and the prelkin in the llerkin civil war (1031)
This would be the third. (1312)
Of course, I could be reading more into this than there is.
