Focus on the Family commits a great evil
Jul. 5th, 2004 11:46 amOkay, say what you want about Michael Moore, the man still deserves a measure of common decency. So when Focus on the Family chooses to publish, with no explanation, where Moore's children can be found in their daily email to their followers, you have to wonder if "common decency" can be found even among those who swear upon their favorite stack of Bible that they're doing it all in "the name of decency."
There are simply some things you don't do. And yes, I'm sure that one could have dug Moore's address and phone number out of some legal paperwork somewhere-- that's not the point. The tipping point between relative anonymity (which Moore's kids surely deserve) and open exposure is maintained only by a certain amount of social grace, which FotF has now demonstrated they completely lack.
Given how unpopular Moore is with some people, this is unwelcome, unwarrented, unChristian, and unAmerican. And those are the nice things I can say about Dobson's little smear campaign.

Date: 2004-07-05 06:53 pm (UTC)Just like a few years ago when the Colorado Springs loonies tried to pass a state amendment to remove all civil protections from homosexuals so anyone could discriminate against them. Dobson and his cronies helped push that "Colorado for Family Values" crap too (I guess hate *is* a family value for those scum). It's so irritating it would be nice to give them a taste of their own medicine and firebomb the "Focus on (Creating) the (Bigoted) Family" headquarters, I pass by it every time I get stuff from Ft. Carson. But doing so would make me no better than them. It's just so hard to combat hate and bigotry, especially when lunatics try to claim that religion demands the bigotry and violence.
It would be tragic, but a veritable godsend, if some freak was to try to hurt Moore's family as a result of what Dobson is encouraging, what they need is to be implicated in inciting violence and thoroughly discredited.
