At first, I wasn't gonna post this. I really wasn't. I saw it a couple of hours ago and decided that the world would be a better place if I didn't spread this meme.

But... Then there was this article from the Guardian about how religious Tony Blair is and how he's moving religious initiatives into his government.

And I had to post this reasoned response. (Warning: not work safe.)

Well I enjoyed the eys. but some of the backdrops confused me but I bet I can attribute that to my lack of sophistication due to my american origins and the like. ive seen many bush things like this but a blair one is new to me. well I guess the british public and american public can sympathize with each other.

Time for a few trumpets in the morning, in Whitehall.

(That's my allowance of obscure literary allusions used up for today.)

Got a better one

The Blair thing was... unusual, but the master AV production still has to be the one at http://users.wolfcrews.com/toys/vikings/

Do bear in mind that Blair is known for telling people what they want to hear behind closed doors, and situations like this are *always* notable for being quasi-leaked stuff from secondhand sources. I very much doubt Blair *wants* people to think he's going to legistlate from his religious beliefs, which have never been publicly detailed or even discussed with any kind of rigor or serious interest.

On this very topic, I believe he once quite famously managed to fit in speeches to a fundamentalist Xtian organization and some geologists, telling the former he was basically a YEC and beginning his speech to the latter with an epic "4.5 billion years ago the earth formed yadda yadda yadda" line.
