Greetings from Lain!
Apr. 7th, 2004 08:26 pmHoly bright and shiny, I did it! Lain is alive! It's been down for three weeks; it looks like there's weakness in the battery, but otherwise it's gorgeous. The screen is so bright and so shiny now, it's completely resurrected from the dead. I can't believe how good it looks. Wireless is back up, and even the transfer rates are decent.
Considering that Omaha and I actually diassembled the monitor and unglued part of the LCD screen to get at the broken backlight, the fact that it worked astounds me. Is it bad that I have a couple of screws left? (I do, and I'm not sure where they go, but everything seems to be kosher.) Even though the "suspend on lid closure" button seems to be slightly more recessed than when I started, it works fine. The keyboard is familiar as always.
Now to get some actual work done. Although with a monitor so bright, watching anime is really tempting...
