Organ-donors

Saturday, while I was driving around I saw quite a number of motorcycles out on the roads. That makes a lot of sense as it was the first nice weekend of the year. There were the different groups: the gang on black and chrome Harleys and choppers with their leathers and their too-thin windburned girlfriends, the fleet of old folks on their butterscotch Honda Goldwings, and then there were the young turks on their Kawasaki rockets all in primary colors and white farings and big, fat highway tires.

It was on the long, gentle uphill stretch of Highway 509 that about a dozen of the last came roaring by, going the other way. They looked impressive; with a few hundred feet of electroluminescent cord at night they would have looked like theyd just stepped out of Tron's world and into our own.

And, at the back of the pack there were two guys I could only describe as organ-donors; they had their front wheels high in the air and for at least a hundred yards rode that way, standing on some strut themselves, one hand on gas, the other flying free. Are they insane? Are they just stupid? I mean, who are they trying to impress, anyway?

Well for like 99% of your post I could not agree more.the other 1% was about the "context"..we have context,they where riding down a highway,even if it was clear ahead for miles it doesent mean somebody couldent merge onto it.What they where doing was quite irresponsable not only to themselves(even though i dont care about them) but to possibly others near them.see not entirely out of context,they where presenting a danger on a highway.I say if you want to do tricks,do them AWAY from others(break your skull where you CANT find help) not on a highway or almost any road for that matter.

good response,and I am just as concerned with the weaving speeders as you are.Ok..no on ramp...hmm....what if he wipes out in the middle of the road and a witless driver approaches the accident scene...could be nasty. I say there is almost if not always danger when doing stupid things like that on highways.seriously cant these people buy dirt bikes and go to a track,or just keep their crotch rockets and go to a paved track.you are right that its quite plausable that they do their tricks safely and succesfully on a highway and THEY are wiling to risk it,BUT it not really their choice now is it,its public highway they dont get to asess and choose risks for others.thats kinda like going to an amusement park and having some punk kid keep trying to flip over the log on the log ride every time you try and ride it,sure its most likely not going to happen but what happens when it does....?

ive only seen a tiny bit of ghost in the shell at a friends house.so i guess thats where I recognized your avatar from..
