Oh, just too precious for words. Remember Susan Sanford, that wacked-out woman who reminded us that "the penalty for abomination is death?" and defined abomination any number of ways (she was focusing on homosexuality, but include "disobedience to parents" in the list of things that qualify).

You have to hope that she's insane. She completely misses the point of the Mars landers, naming them "Waste and Squander", while praising manned missions-- which cost ten times what the landers cost. "Just what is supposed to be on Mars anyhow? So what if God put water on Mars in the beginning anyway? We couldn't live there, it's too cold and far away."

Kelly Hollowell has a bizzare article in which she claims that people who argue gays are born gay are hypocrits because they also tend to be evolutionists and "evolution says that homosexuality would kill off the species." I'm not going into the massive fallacy of that argument; it's simply wrong, and if anyone wants to know why we can get into kin selection and genetic distribution patterns later.

What's even more egregious is this comment: "there is growing support that homosexuality is a developmental disorder and a changeable predisposition. The evidence is a rather uniform picture of poor family dynamics that has emerged from those seeking change from the homosexual lifestyle."

Does it even begin to occur to her that the evidence strongly suggests that the "poor family dynamics" doesn't cause homosexuality but it does make one susceptible to the kind of shenanigans that "ex-gay ministries" engage? The correlation here seems to be between poor family dynamics and being messed up in general.

It should also occur to this woman that if there is no evolutionary reason for homosexuality, then homosexuality is clearly part of God's plan and we have no business defying it.

And Fox News breathlessly prays for another terrorist attack because that's the only thing that could get George W. re-elected. Bush must "heighten the saliency of terrorism as an issue," or he will lose the election.

Best quote? "Education or the economy or health care won't knock down buildings and kill 3,000 people." Maybe not; but if we neglect it, there won't be a country worth attacking. Americans understand that. Kerry understands that. Bush doesn't. And that's why he deserves to lose.

I think that the orthodox argument is that God has introduced homosexuality, in order for people so afflicted to struggle to overcome the temptation to sin. Which is not only questionable, but irrelevant in a secular polity.

evolution and homosexuality

Susan Sanford simply doesn't understand what evolution is. She is arguing against a position that homosexuality represents an "evolutionary advancement." Obviously that position would be nonsense. Homosexuality is a trait, and not a simple one, since human behavior comes from lots of factors. But even assuming there were a "gay gene", it wouldn't have to be some sort of improvement over heterosexuality to exist. That's a very primitive misunderstanding of the meaning of evolution. Evolution is not about progress and directionality, it's about adapting to current conditions (if conditions stay the same for a long time, it can look pretty directional, though). To disappear from the population completely, this hypothetical "gay gene" would have to be monolithic and dominant, and control behavior so completely that carriers would never breed. And many gay people do breed. And people aren't all-or-nothing. And there's no danger of the population dying out from the waning of heterosexuality. Maybe from blowing each other up, or having our reproduction messed up irreparably by artificial hormones in the water....

What does she think, the "Homosexual Agenda" recruitment plan is all devoted to creating a master race of homos and wiping out the lesser straights? No, it's much more sensible to keep them as breeding stock.

Wow, I seem to be in a weird snit tonight. Never mind.

Who says that gays don't reproduce? I'm a lesbian mother.

And I know gay fathers.

And I know that there are gays and lesbians and transgendered folk who also believe in Creation.

Who is this Susan Sanford bitch, anyway?

This may very well explain Susan Sanders...

Taken from the article you linked to:

"Last week, I had an experience I hope I will never have again. An accidental fall gave me a concussion and a lacerated elbow which I am lucky to be recovering from."

Also, to illustrate her ignorance: Spoken English is more more informal than written. In the above, you could get away with ending a sentence with "from" if you were speaking. However, to quote my 3rd grade English teacher, "Never a sentence a preposition end with."

Hiya, Elf. I'm the Ambitious Wench. Nice ta meetcha.
