I woke up this moring and looked at the news. Kouryou-chan's school was closed according to the school district reports, but there was just a light dusting on the ground. Not really the kind of conditions that keep us from going to school.

But I took the school district at their word and went back to bed for an hour. When it was time to wake Kouryou-chan, I looked outside and now it was really coming down. There was an inch on the top of the car and it was still storming down. Kouryou-chan was great waking up, not a problem.

Well, we're snowed in now. I'm making oatmeal right now-- warm, winter food indeed. Later, we're going to take down the Yule tree and then an experiment: oatmeal cookies, half made with standard-cut rolled oats, half made with steel-cut pinhead oats.

Snow Days..

Yay, snow'd in! ;-) You have to admit, it's much better than being iced in...that just ..well, sucks. Particularly when the ice weighs down power and communication lines till they snap. Then you're up a creek without a paddle. Time to whip out the candles and your favorite book. Oh, and hope you have a fireplace.

Have you tried oatmeal cookies made just from oat flour (take oat meal, run it thru the blender till its powdery)?

I'm not too fond of the texture of oatmeal cookies, so I like that way better. (I also add some oat flour to my chocolate chip cookies, cause I like the flavor.)
