We had Kouryou-chan's birthday party this weekend, and I'll write more about it later, but right now I've gotta just write a very quick and very sincere thank-you to FallenPegasus's sister, [livejournal.com profile] jatg, who came through in a pinch and produced a drawing of a tail-less unicorn. We were originally going to do Pin The Tail on the Donkey, a good game for 4-6 year olds, but Kouryou-chan decided that a unicorn was what a Princess wanted, and since the party was Princess themed, with pink and white balloons, an amazing castle cake, and everyone in pretty dresses, that was what we would get. Simple enough-- go to Spencers for one of their cheesy felt blacklight unicorn posters and a whole bunch of pink and white ribbons for tails.

Except Spencers didn't have unicorn posters. I couldn't believe it. For years, it was a staple of their production. We looked around at toystores, poster stores, even Hot Topic (despite the boycott), and then FallenPegasus called his sister.

It was an utter smash. I've put up two photos of the poster (which FallenPegasus ran off on a huge printer-- I guess Kinko's has them this big), one before and one after. Kouryou-chan added for scale. I also digitally edited out the children's names (which were written on the tails); I tend to be paranoid about that (no, really?) and I'm sure other parents are too.
