So, last night, after work, I take Omaha to her show for the weekly live broadcast, then head home with Kouryou-chan soundly asleep in her carseat. She's still sleepy while I'm hauling her around the insides of QFC, resting on my shoulder, and she only wakes up towards the end, just enough for me to wrestle with my wallet. She's getting to be such a big girl.

We play a little bit, then I make dinner and we eat it together. I'm out of wine, so I had to use balsamic vinegar in the recipe, which is not bad at all. Kouryou-chan liked it a lot but she said, "Next time, I want the square ones," meaning ravioli instead of tortellini. "The little ones," she added. "Ravioletti with cheese?" I asked. "Yeah," she says. "Those."

Afterward, while I'm cleaning up, I pull up LJ and start reading and discover that one of my dearest friends, [livejournal.com profile] shemayazi, had been hospitalized with a runaway blood sugar level that nearly killed her, and I get that cold, horrible feeling in the pit of my gut. Eek. I just hope she gets better; life's far more intersting with her about.

Still a bit reeled, I bathe Kouryou-chan and get her ready for bed. I can't get worry for Shemayazi out of my head, but somehow I manage to fall asleep. I slept okay, and woke up to find Omaha snuggled against me. That was nice.

Ugh. those types of illness flares can really catch you by surprise. At least the did with me in my life. Comforting thoughts to your friend's quick and complete recovery.. and to your ability to remain close for many years to come.
