Yay! Cialis and Levitrol are on their way to U.S. markets. These are the competitors to Viagra, and with their introduction we may finally have some competition to knock the little blue pill down in price. Those things are expensive.

Here's one we should all find ridiculous. A law in Edmonton, Canada, makes it illegal to smoke in any public or private gathering place, such as a restaurant or dance club; an exception provides for smoking if the place has a liquor license. Now, a public gathering place called "Keep It Simple," founded as a place for former alcoholics to hang out, has been told to get a liquor license and sell booze or tell its patrons they may not smoke.

The road to hell is paved and all that...

Y'know, if you want to look presidential and attract the best and brightest, you should make every effort you can to attend events that bring you to the attenion of the youth of America. Apparently, the democratic candidates can't be bothered. The Young Democrats of America, all 43,000 of them, had their annual convention this week in Buffalo, NY, and only one presidential candidate made it.

Of course, that would be Howard Dean.

Smoke 'em if you got 'em

In general, the Edmonton law makes sense compared to what New York just passed. I have no problems with making restaurants no smoking zones, but banning smoking in bars is ridiculous.

They should offer "smoking licenses" for bars, just like they offer liquor licenses.
