But, Didn't You Win?
Nov. 9th, 2010 09:02 amThis morning, while driving to work, I tuned around the dial and landed on "The Conservative Alternative," KVI 570. Imagine my surprise and pleasure when, instead of the usual dain bramage coming from local right-wing talk show host Brian Suits, I heard Elton John. Followed by Abba, and then Franki Valli.
At first, I thought it was just a joke, but it's the real thing. After eight years of incessant conservative yammer, the local FOX Radio affiliate had gone down in flames, unable to sustain its crew of talking heads any further on dwindling advertising dollars.
I mourn for the loss of the soulful, angelic voice of Laura Ingrahm, the calm, meditative comments of Mark Levin, the principled commentary of Sean Hannity, the rational, historically accurate musings of Bill Cunningham, and worst of all, that deep and evidence-based science host, Art Bell.
The other conservative channel, 770 KTTH, with the world's ending soon Glenn Beck, destined for a heart attack any day now Rush Limbaugh and Bigfoot hunting, American intellectual tradition trashing Michael Medved, is sadly still going strong.
