Saturday and Sunday
Jun. 19th, 2005 09:46 pmI have not gotten enough sleep this weekend.
Omaha and I had a quiet enough morning. I did some hard-core geeking, learning about namespace closures in javascripting and the creation of functors that allow one to use pre-object-oriented javacript calls with javascript. When you can do this, miracles become possible, because this means that you can have different objects on the HTML page use the same block of code with different states. It's quite wondeful.
Around 2:30 or so, we ran over to
damiana_swan's house-swarming party, where we were treated to utterly delightful company, damn fine strawberries and Devonshire cream, a viewing of PollyWally (If you're poly, you must watch this film. It's only 4 minutes long.), and a bit of geeking. We've been looking for a competent HTML and Javascript programmer where I work, and one of the women there mentioned she was looking for a part-time job, and hey, we're looking for interns. It might be a match.
After that, I took Omaha back home and went up to
shemayazi's place to have dinner and a movie and maybe more. I hadn't been sleeping well, and the beer didn't help, so the "more" was a bust. (Note to self: If you've drunk enough that your cheeks feel a little numb, other parts of you do as well.) The movie was the execrable Team America World Police. Done in old-school supermarionette style, it's atrocious, disgusting, and vile: everything you'd expect from the makers of South Park. And if I had a brass scrub brush I'd use it on the insides of my brain to erase the line about Rumpleteaser, Mungojerry, and Mr. Mestopheles. (Although, on the other hand, it was a hot image, if you didn't imagine it with puppets.)
Sunday, I awoke to a smiling wife and daughter bringing me scrambled eggs in bed. It was made with heavy cream, which makes me think maybe they're trying to off me early and collect on the insurance by making it look like a heart attack. I drove out a little while later and collected Yamaarashi-chan, and we all went over to Angle Lake, where I think I got a sunburn on my nose.
We went out to Mizu's, which is one of those "show" Japanese restaurants where they cook the food tableside. The kids were thrilled. I'm going to bed.
