And even though they've added lyrics to the very lovely opener, I still want it. I watched the first episode today and, ohmigod, I was dying of laughter. I expect them to turn up the melodrama eventually, but for now, the whole "Who's Driving?" "It's okay. I got my license yesterday!" "Please let me ouuuuuut!" "You won't die. This car has airbags!" bit had me rolling.

I suspect the "region-free" Maria-Sama disks being sold at the link above are Chinese pirate. Anything's better than the Ayu fansub, though; they're a good fansubbing group but they had terrible raws for Haru.

And, dammit, I'm just on the edge of understanding everything. It's so frustrating. The show is contemporary, and this episode's been about introductions: Yumi is being introduced to her girlfriend's family, so I should know every word. And I do, but they don't come fast enough. I have to pause and dig through the dictionary. Bleah!

Gurgh. He's right.

It's been a crappy day of debugging a great language with terrible debugging tools, and on top of that I stumble upon Varieties of Insanities Known To Affect Authors.

I count myself guilty of several:

• He wrote that how fast? And that's his first draft? Aaaargh! He's the real writer. I'm just a talentless plodder who's put together a bag of tricks.
  
  
• I'm not a real writer. I don't know what I'm doing. I just dash this stuff off. For some reason, people seem to like it. Or anyway, they've liked it so far.
  
  
• He's a real writer. I just make stuff up. He writes from the heart. Alternately: He's genuinely creative— a real writer. I just endlessly rehash my own stuff.
  
  
• Any day now, everyone's going to see through me.

The last is the most paralyzing.
