Clever Ideas Wanted

Damn, my jaw hurts. It's getting worse, not better, and I'm just so sick and tired of it hurting in the first place. I'm taking massive doses of ibuprofen because it seems to work best at moderating the pain, but I just want it to stop before next Tuesday when the stitches come out.

Anyway, the clever ideas I'm seeking are in regards to my anniversary, which is next Thursday. According to the traditions list, I'm supposed to be getting us either ivory or gold jewelry, although I suppose that the silk and lace categories from the year before might do just as well, since I can't recall actually trying to match those from last year as well. I'm terrible at buying gifts for Omaha and I was wondering what creative ideas people out there might have had.

I know what to get her next year. That's not a problem.

Clever ideas ... hmm ... I don't know about Omaha, but I tend to treasure gifts that really unique, and which require thought and effort. My initial thoughts are things like, a "lovers tree" for your yard--two trees growing together, perhaps twined around one another. Or perhaps something that you've made yourself; there are places where you can do things like take a day workshop where you end up with a glass ornament that you've blown yourself, or jewelry that you've made yourself. You could sign the two of you up for a neat cooking class or a massage course or something similar. Maybe arrange to take a dance class with her? How about having a chef come to your home and make a special dinner just for the two of you? (I can give you an excellent recommendation, if that sounds interesting.)

I'm sure she'll adore whatever you come up with. :-)
