I just got email from my mother. She's on-line now. Even has an AOL account. In no time she'll figure out Google, perhaps, or I'll slip and forget to delete the URL from my .sig when I email her.

Either way, I'm doomed.

I guess there's no time like the present to come out of some closets. Sometimes, living out loud is hard when your folks are close at hand. It was much safer when she was 3000 miles away and not connected.

On the other paw my favorite web comic As If! is back on the air. That's gotta be worth some fun.

And I managed a few hundred words at lunch today. Dreamteam Calamaties is now officially a novel by Hugo or Nebula standards. (Note: This is not as impressive as it sounds by today's standards.) I didn't manage to get anything done on the bus this morning thanks to a nosy rider. Maybe this afternoon I'll get more done. Not sure what, since I finished chapter four, which was the sticking point.

As for work, well, let's just say that I loathe NFS with a passion.

just wait til she starts her own

I just found out today that my Dad's actually started to use the blog I set up for him a while back. There were a week's worth of posts already!! And already there's some interesting back and forth dialogue as he was commenting on things I'd said in my blog!

World's getting smaller and smaller

I'm lucky, my mom is cool, a techie (she brought me up a geek), and bi (and pagan)... So it was more me helping her with her coming out than the other way around. She comments on my journal occasionally, though doesn't have a LJ acct (I prolly should fix that).
The rest of my family on the other hand... My family in this area are both pretty christian and fairly open-minded (fortunately), and I know they have seen my website. They have met Matt though, so they probably figure everything is okay in their little world because my partner happens to be male... Matt and I are pretty sure that his family has some inclination that I'm at least bi, though they haven't brought it up. They are hardcore christian and we are very careful what we say around them lest it start a family war... Sigh. I don't know what I would do if his mom ever got online and saw my site... Sigh.
Hopefully your mom will be in the first category of accepting, rather than reactionary. Either way I wish you the best of luck. ^_^ *HUGS*

My mother's been online for several years now. Fortunately for me, she doesn't read LJ.

Oh dear lord...

Dear lord....I'm going through the same thing....My mom just got online, and it's only a matter of time before my dad gets online.

They know I'm gay....but do they know I'm a fur? Nope. Coming out is always a very interesting thing. I'm lucky that I'm totally out to my family.

Well, the nice thing is that I'm in my mid-30s with a reliable career, family, the whole works. My mom will just have to live with my pecadillos, such as they are.

I think it's just pure habit. Writing is just something I do, like wanking. My characters exist for me. I spend a few stories with them, getting used to who they are and what kind of characters they are. Eventually, I write a story I like, and then I go back and re-write the dialogue of the original stories to make their original appearances more three-dimensional. Eventually, I twiddle the stories over and over until I'm happy, and I release the stories as a series.

Well. my parents have been online for some time now, and have had broadband for over 3 years now, and both are somewhat skilled in the use of a browser.

I think maybe they are being willfully blind to some things...

Of course, I havn't cut the swath across the `net that you have, one would have to read a fair number of carefully targetted hits from Google Groups to figure out just how far from been a Good Mormon Boy that I am.
