Obviously, some of you (the Pendorwright folks) are wondering what in the name of all that is decent and good is going on. Well, the answer is simple: I've moved my personal weblog (and only the weblog!) over to LiveJournal. This has a number of advantages: it allows me to tie in my emacs nature between gnus, ljupdate, bbdb, records mode and emacs-wiki so I can cut and paste at will between them, and it gives you guys a chance to mutter and curse about the Journal Entries to me in public. Yes, that's right, you can post comments to my journal and make all sorts of snide remarks about how there's too much sex or too little sex or too much high-falutin' thinkin' going on, or how the lesbian stuff is well done or raw or perhaps just right, y'know, warm and pink in the middle.

And I've managed to hack a pair of style sheets for the "Current View." The second one allows me to export it to my local home page so that those who are visiting the website know about both the comment pages and those who are visiting the journal know that they can come to the Pendorwright site and find at least something familiar.

So now I have two sites, each linked to the other, and you can all get down and enjoy.

I always knew that editor was too damn smart for its own good....

Sure, I use it too, but woof! that's a lot of buffers....

They shoulda kept the Kitchen Sink icon.

No doubt you're aware that LiveJournal provides an RSS feed which might make having it appear elsewhere (such as the website) easier.

RSS vs. Embed...

I had to make it work with my existing website, which unfortunately has limited resources. It does have Python installed, and since that's virtually my native tongue it was quite easy to use the embed feature, a clean LJ Style, and my own local style sheets to make the embedded LJ look exactly like the old PyBlog install I had there earlier.

Well, welcome to LiveJournal, Elf!

It's good to see you over here, and being a long-time fan of your stories since... gods, back when your site was hosted on Drizzle and a year or two before I met you at CF8 or CF9 whilst playing Raiden I think...

In either case, welcome aboard. And yes, being able to actually write back in response immediately to some of your weblogging is nice, though amusingly I was just in the process of seeing if I could replace the dates and times in my Ljournal with Pendorian ones, mostly on a lark. Fancy I should check in and see that you're on the site now as well. :-)

Can you do that?

Change the date format in a programmatic way? I was under the impression that LJ styles were rather obstinate about not using or including javascript or stuff like that. It would be amusing to have my LJ have Pendorian dates on them...
From: [identity profile] wolfwings.livejournal.com
It *IS* possible to convert times and dates to Pendorian... unfortunately it requires dependancy on an external website, and using <IMG> tags with the year, month, day, hour, and minute embedded into the URL.

So, yeah, it's possible. But it's just a little bit fugly and not entirely elegant, since they can't allow JavaScript due to security issues.

Or more specifically... any kind of 'display external data source' tags. IFrame appears to be possible, which isn't as bad as IMG, but it's still far from elegant. :-)

Actually, my only two complaints are you don't write enough fast enough (I mean, I read faster than you make them! Unacceptable!) and that you need someone doing copy editing of them.

Teasing!

According to my on-board database, there are approximately 340,000 words in the "Pending" in approximately 90 journal entries just waiting for me to get off my butt, polish, and post.

Most people do that from the sitting position. Much more comfortable.

*blink*
Want!

Please?

*deep breath* [mental voice on]
Now then, he's got Real Life to deal with as well. Just because you've been reading this stuff for (thinking) good gods, more'n'a decade - doesn't mean you can be all whiny and begging. Still. [/mental voice off]

I'd love to see more of your writing. :)

I'll show you mine if you show me yours...
