Yet more bread!
Feb. 4th, 2003 06:50 pmNew yeast had no effect. The bread still comes out under-done, and this time I doused the yeast in honey to get it pre-activated while I added the enhancers (cream and salt), and then put the flour on top. I mean, I still get a yummy loaf, but it's dense, not light, and I can't seem to get it to work well. I'm almost up to blaming the hardware-- I mean, there is unprocessed flour close to the mixer blade when I take it out, but that shouldn't be a problem.
I don't have time to do the rising and kneading by hand, at least not except on the weekends. I suppose it's about time I started trying that, at least for the Saturday batch.
Oh, and in an earlier LJ I mentioned that I listened to Morning Musume. I don't. I had a borrowed CD from a friend of mine who shares my interest in J-pop, but not necessarily the same tastes. Morning Musume is not something I would listen to on a regular basis. It's so freaking cheerful I felt like I needed insulin after listening to it. It's the chirpy, super-kawaii, teen-pop j-pop equivalent of Up With People, and I felt like I needed a bath after listening to it.
