Omaha is in the hospital again. She awoke this morning around 3am with chest pain, and after a quick call to the charge nurse the response was "Get your ass to the hospital now." So we got.

The EKG was completely normal. The same night doc as the one we encountered when Omaha's kidney stones started, Dr. Patrick, was in charge and he first said, "Weren't you in here recently?" He then said that he didn't think it was anything, but he was glad we came in anyway.

Nurses and orderlies came and drew blood, took x-rays, and wired up the walking EKG unit. Many comments were made about how Omaha and I were busily tweeting our morning. One orderly made a comment about how he hoped Omaha's problem was just something left over from the nasty head and chestcold that's been going around. Omaha had it last week, and Kouryou-chan still has it.

An hour later he came back and said, "Well, surprise, surprise, you're showing an elevated level on an enzyme that shows up only when heart muscle is damaged. It's not in the danger zone, but it's not normal either. So we're admitting you and I'm calling a cardiologist."

Okay, now I'm freaked out.

An hour after that, I went home, leaving Omaha in the care of the ER staff. SixfreakinAM and everyone is awake. I got Storm out the door, almost burned the house down making breakfast. Kouryou-chan still has her cough, so she's staying home.

I'm at my computer. I'm pretending to work. I don't have the brain.

Cardiac events are fucking scary - especially when the enzyme test comes back showing something.

It's good news that you got to the ER right away, and that she's being taken care of.

Try to get some rest ... hope to hear some more good news as things progress!

Oh, geez, that sucks. I'm sorry! But it's good it was detected. And good luck for quick recovery!

Best of luck holding everything together, and hope it's something for which prompt remediation is available.

(The holding-everything-together shit gets old fast. Feorag is going into the hospital for a week tomorrow -- abdominal surgery -- and one of our cats has just turned out to be going blind due to hypertension, and I have arthritic mother-in-law management incoming. I'm not even pretending to work.)

Oddly enough, I have been very productive this morning. Got three major sprints out of the way. My exhaustion seems to be holding the ADHD in check, giving me room to work.

But thanks.

Seems to me, there are times when work is the best solace I can find.

I am glad you were smart and paranoid enough to get her to the hospital right away.

I second that! Having recently become a cardiac patient myself, I know just how scary it can be.

As someone who's taken a sweetie to the ER "just to be safe", I get what you're experiencing here. Hopefully this will turn out to be excess caution for something minor. Our thoughts are with you both.
