On the other hand, I've added another HowTo to my website, this time on using Google ReCaptcha as a way of distinguishing between human beings and robots. I know people hate captchas, those little squiggles of hard-to-read letter collections, but they do slow down the spammers. ReCaptcha has google backing and they promise to update the algorithm as quickly as spammers try to crack it. Web developers need these tricks, whether we enjoy them or not.

Hm, is that the same one that helps Project Gutenberg proofread their OCR? If so, it's a good cause and makes me feel good every time I use it.
