Well, this is vexing. I'm working on an activity stream for Indieflix, so filmmakers can track when users watch or comment on their films. I'm using the ActStream app silo, which is a basic activity monitor: "actor" "verbs" "target."

But in this case, it's "film" "receives" "comment," which just sounds passive to me. The user is the actor here, not the film; the film is just a tag hung on an object in the comment pool.

It just feels weird.

If there's any amount of validation going on here on the part of the film, "accepts" might be a suitable alternate verb. In other systems I've worked on, we've used "accepts" in this context to indicate that, while the user initiates the transaction, the component's role here is in deciding whether it wants to permit this tag to hang off of it.
