Date: 2010-07-21 11:55 pm (UTC)The movie started out really slow -- I nearly walked out it was so rough for the first 15 or so. It picked up once the creature came on the scene and in the end left us talking about it the next day. (Of course we were in the car for 6 hours...)

==============
I enjoyed the movie, but the two main characters kept pulling me out of the narrative... I kept saying "Real people wouldn't do that."
It also bothered me that this whole movie was one huge ugly case of child abuse, with the chimera Dren as the abused child. Things turned out badly, and I have a hard time not saying that it was the messed up psyches of the two main characters which were the cause of all the badness. I kept wondering what Dren would have been like if she had been raised by loving, competent parents, with other human contacts to help socialize her... and, no mistake, Dren was the victim here.
