How geekless is the GOP?

Apparently, they secured the address "GOP.am," and while throwing around ideas some bright spark said, "Hey, you know those URL shortener things, like bit.ly? What if we put up one of those? But instead of being a redirect, we'll make it a frame, so you can put wrap Republican messages around whatever page we redirect too. That'll show those folks just how cool and technological we can be!"
Oh, the places you'll go...
I especially love the "Do you think Sarah Palin is?" question on this GOP-wrapped screenshot of sex.com.
This one's for Larry Craig, Bob Allen, Glenn Murphy Jr., Jim West, Jeff Gannon and Mark Foley! (Man, how sad is it that I can remember all of those? I'm totally wasting those brain cells!) Pssst. Republicans, wanna know something? Wrapping someone else's site in your branding frame is about as rude as pissing on your neighbor's lawn. It, too, went out with the 90's.

Date: 2009-12-19 06:08 am (UTC)The tea party movement was planned as far back as 2005, possibly farther, since that's when all the web domains were actually purchased. The actual planning probably went back even further than that. A few of the web domains were purchased the regular way, but anything after 2007 was purchased via anonymous domain resellers.
