I made our classic pasta sauce this evening, and then poured it over squid-ink spaghetti, which was a dramatic black color. Omaha made jokes about eating gagh, but insisted I'd made it wrong since "Gagh is best served live." She thought she could detect a hint of licorice in the spaghetti, and wasn't fond of it. The spaghetti was particularly cool in that it comes in 120cm lengths folded in half and packaged. I had to break it up, but it would have been cool to let the girls have meter-plus lengths of noodle. I'd love to see them try and eat that.

Unfortunately, the stick blender is busted (again), so I couldn't zap the sauce the way I usually do. Kouryou-chan could see the tomatoes and onions, and that was uncool. She ate bravely around the sauce.

The real disater came later, while I was putting away the leftovers. I dropped a liter bag of sauce on the floor, where it promptly split open and spilled all over the kitchen. Some of it splattered into the living room, all over the rug.

I knew there was a reason I'd bought a wet/dry handvac for the kitchen. That and a few rags cleaned up the toxic mess.

That is indeed very cool. I also saw, a few weeks ago, a series of tattoo-gun ready inks that changed color depending upon how much sugar was in your bloodstream; laid out in a sequence on your arm, you could know instantly when your blood sugars needed management. Good for diabetics.
