Is he really white trash? He was sure in the middle of it, but I never thought of him as such. In fact, there were a handful of characters in that movie I wouldn't have described that way. (I love that movie, dorky female lead aside)

Luke Skywalker is as white trash as I am. And while that's technically true by the same measure[1], this summer I told a coworker that I turned into a redneck over the weekend courtesy of a sunburn, and she told me that it takes a lot more than a sunburn to turn into a redneck. To her, I'm about as far removed from being white trash as you can get.

Also, Luke never *liked* getting his hands dirty. Or farm work for that matter. Farmboy? Sure. White trash? No.

[1] I spent a large part of my childhood in a trailer with a leaky roof, the bastard child of a father who married his sister-in-law 6 months after the fact, and spent all my school years in a backwater mining town 50 km *off* the beaten track from a town called "Resume Speed". And I could go on from there.
