So, I need a few beta testers to go check out my latest joke and tell me if it works for you. It seems to be okay in Firefox and Safari, and works passably well with IE7.

And yes, feel free to giggle.

The code's pretty rough, but it'll work for now.

in firefox, seeing the same color overlap issue on the "red state poly" text half over the upper bar of red, and the last four words of "none of your information is stored on our servers" are overlapping the black bottom bar.

From a usability standpoint, add a hypertext link to "Poly" so the less knowledgeable viewers can still join in.

It's funny, I adore the idea. However the web design is nowhere near bad enough for it to be a compelling crackpot-website.

Firefox 2 @ 1280x1024 on Linux: the title text juts below the red banner at the top, the black footer bar at the bottom prevents some of the text at the left from being seen (it cuts off after "Red State Poly comes with absolutely no"), and there is a tremendous amount of whitespace after the footer. The "Add" button and "View Results" link do nothing, but I figure you just don't have that hooked up yet.

Actually, they're supposed to be fully functional, and are with Firefox 3. Grr... darn it, I don't want to have to support a lower browser.

The side-to-side scrolling is awesome.

I have a minimum font size set (ff 3.0.13 on ubuntu) which makes the "add" and "view results" disappear into the black footer.

(without the minimum font size, it's fine. about 1 in 10 sites is unusable due to this, so you're not alone.)

Yeah, the side-to-side scroll was the main idea; I wanted to see how much of it I could pack into one application. It's one html document (and a boatload of javascript).

I'll work on the positioning and vertical scaling issues later this week.

It started out as a Django app, and as I packed more and more into it I realized I didn't need any Django at all. Everything is done on the client side; the list of women is stored in a cookie on the browser.

I had fun

by putting in the names "Sarah Palin" and "Ann Coulter". The page advised me to have sex with Sarah. Since I don't want to be a father, I think I won't have sex with either of them. :D Of course, it would be a miracle if either of them got pregnant anyway.

... wait, I thought Ann Coulter was just a really unconvincing drag queen.

Earlier, you commented on how they were marketing "latex-free" condoms made with polyisoprene - which is just the proper name for latex. Turns out it's just that the synthetic polyisoprene lacks the trace contaminants of proteins and fatty acids present in natural latex; many people who have an allergic reaction to latex products are actually sensitive to the proteins, not the latex itself.

Still, I agree, unethical to use scientific nomenclature to confuse people.

Definitely giggled, thanks.

Using a screen reader with IE8 I've no idea who the method is endorsed by. Graphics without alt attributes perhaps? It isn't a huge issue, the rest isn't bad, but it's sometimes worth considering. Always bugs me when sites say "We support the following payment methods" then have untagged graphics, or just have one big combined image of all of the logos with the tag "accepted payment methods" and not saying what they are.
