I can't afford it, but in case anyone else is interested, the Half Price bookstore in Tukwila has a complete three-volume set of Knuth's The Art of Computer Programming for $75. This weekend there's a 20% off sale for labor day, so that's $60 for a set that retails for about $200.

Hi, Elf. May I ask a favor of you?

My son is majoring in CS at Portland State, and would love to get the books. I'm in Corvallis OR, but plan on visiting Seattle sometime within the next couple of weeks to visit Kibbutz Ravenna, and if I could persuade you to pick up the Knuth books for me I would be delighted to pay the bill and take you out to dinner as a way of simultaneously taking delivery and rewarding you for your efforts.

I'm not sure this idea is practical; not being a local I have no idea where Tukwila is or how convenient a trip this would be for you. PLease let me know; if there are logistics to arrange or you have other questions, please call me at 310-918-8142.
