Anarchist bookstores are no less capitalist enterprises for all their posturing. The one in downtown Seattle, for example, has a gay and lesbian magazine rack, and naturally has the eye-catching gurlz on the top shelf, and the icky boys down on the bottom shelf where they belong.

And here's what I don't get: one magazine billed itself as "For Fat Dykes And The Women Who Love Them." It included several photospreads and one of them bugged me because it was clearly feeder porn. I'm like, WTF? Feeder porn is widely seen as evidence of a highly abusive relationship in which the man's fantasy is to immobilize a woman inside her own massive body. Why the hell would there be lesbian feeder porn?

Well, first of all I'm not sure if the "widely seen" explanation for feeder porn is true. Secondly, if it is true, why couldn't women also have such abusive fantasies toward other women?

Today I was a a fat community fundraiser for NOLOSE, and met up with one of the members of the FaT GiRL collective.

If you were at Left Bank Books, then that was FaT GiRL you were looking at, or possibly Size Queen. Left Bank is still carrying them, although it ceased to put out new issues more than a decade ago.

If you'd taken a closer look you would have seen that its contents are radical, feminist, fat positive, and anti-diet - but in no way could it be construed as feeder oriented. Big, big line between fat women enjoying food and the feeder/feedee phenomenon.
