Rep. Ryan 'booted' from "Democrats For Life Of America" For Supporting Contraception.

Ryan, it seems, signed on to the "Preventing Unintended Pregnancies, Reducing the Need for Abortion and Supporting Parents Act," an Obama-backed bill that would do what it says it does by providing better access to contraception for low-income Americans, as well as comprehensive teen pregnancy prevention sex education. Those will reduce the number of abortions. But "Democrats for Life" apparently don't see it that way. Contraception is still a problem for them. And they have told their members not to vote for this bill.

I have to point again to Red Sex, Blue Sex: these people know that their actions will result in more, not fewer, teenage mothers. They Don't Care.

They do too care - that's what they want.

The earlier women become mothers, the earlier they're sidelined out of the world of men's concerns: work, political decisions, etc.

Sadly, there are also other factors

I've read some articles ranting about how the declining population of European countries such as Italy is a sign of things to come in the US, and how the "lesser breeds" in Muslim countries and south of the border are threatening the future of the US by being fruitful and multiplying.

I think it's more to the effect that they believe that everyone should be pure and chaste before marriage. Anyone who isn't, *deserves* to be marked for life as a whore, and to be punished severely for it.

Regrettably, that is a very big part of their motivation.

This, but I'd phrase it differently: they want sex to have consequences. They want it to be dangerous, to spread disease, to result in pregnancy, because then it will continue to be the mechanism by which their ideology controls the social structure, instead of being just an awesome recreational activity, which is what a world of social acceptability and effective birth control and disease prevention are threatening to turn it into.

They obviously fail to realise that the more you try to stop teenage sex, the more they'll want to do it. There will always be some who will do it either way, but trying to convince them it's not good just makes even more want to push the boundaries. That's what growing up is about on the whole, it's just some kids misjudge which boundaries to push.

The trick isn't making it clear that teenage sex is bad, the trick is convincing them that they don't want to do it. Make them feel like it was their decision. Sure it's manipulative in a way, but sometimes that's what you need to do.

Yep. This isn't about the children. It's about controlling women.

Y'know what's really sad about this discussion? The complete absence of the other side of the feminist movement: that males should be allowed to be fathers, not just money-factories.

There is still a silent message in corporations: you're not allowed to have both a career and offspring.

True equality & partnership between men and women would do much to expose these pro-forced-birth people for the nutjobs that they are.
