Average temperature running Prey with the stock Thinkpad 60: 95C.

Average temperature running Prey with the new fan and Arctic Silver on the interface: 60C.

Something was very wrong with this machine.

Even under peak CPU+Graphics load (Bioshock at around 960x600 w/ 16xFSAA) I've yet to see any of the temperature-sensors on mine peak over 52C on my T61p, yeesh, had no clue the T60's could actually get even that hot without dying instantly, let alone 95C. =O.o=

Might explain why I'm one of the few that's had no overheating issues at all with their T61p though, I may have just lucked out into one that runs amazingly cool for some unknown reason. Glad the new fan made such a huge difference though.

I mentioned the first time I played Prey (http://elfs.livejournal.com/888252.html) that not only did it routinely run hot, but once it ran so hot the kernel initiated an emergency ACPI shutdown due to overheat.

And, amusingly, it was a Star Trek joke in the subject then, too.

Count your blessings that you still have a machine left after that.
