About that Lucy exhibit...

elfsRemember my comment about how the pro-science folks had decided it was okay to go see the Lucy exhibit because if it lost money it would be a blow for museum-based science education? On the ride home, I saw a woman reading the newspasper and the headline told the whole story. Although the headline on the website reads Students may be last in the U.S. to see Lucy, but the headline as printed in the paper this morning was: "Poor showing for Lucy means Seattle might be last stop on the US tour."
That's a damned shame. The unofficial estimate puts PacSciCen's losses at nearly a million dollars. Well, Omaha and I did our part; we paid and we went. With the current financial storm, we really couldn't do more. But if you have a chance to go, go now. The exhibit closes in less than two weeks.

Date: 2009-02-28 05:49 am (UTC)Also, in researching I found out that they have expanded hours F/S the last two weekends (added to TH) and that it's free for members after 5pm on those days. That doesn't add to the bottom line (unless you reup your membership as we'll likely do) but it does add to the headcount.
