The Lilly Ledbetter Act Passes
Lilly Ledbetter was the employee at Goodyear Rubber who sued for blatant wage discrimination based on her sex, won, and ultimately lost. The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 that Ledbetter did not begin her lawsuit six months after Goodyear had committed its criminal act, and so she could not pursue her case.

The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay act extends the period in which someone can sue to be 180 days after the date of discovery, which makes a heck of a lot more sense.

It's interesting to note that while Senate Republicans' public stance is to oppose this bill and most of them have voted against it, there or four Republicans who voted for it: Sen. Susan Collins (R, ME), Sen. Kay Hutchison (R, TX), Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R, AK), Sen. Olympia Snowe (R, ME).

Notice anything?

Ed Brayton finds a sweet "academic freedom" letter
Louisiana has recently ditched its rules requiring teachers to teach evolution and not deviate into unsubstantiated "controversy." One letter to the editor crows:
I thank our legislators and governor for taking a stand for God. Our teachers will be able to teach evolution is only a theory. By teaching the option of creationism, I pray our children will realize God created them.
But ID isn't about religion, right?

WND: Alan Keyes is still questioning Obama's legitimacy to be president

WND: By including Muslims and nonbelievers, Obama paves the way for the End of America!

I continue to be amazed at your ability to stomach sites such as WND...tho I confess, Breitbart's site (especially the "big hollywood" section) is about as bad. I much fear that "conservative America" is overwhelmed by paranoid delusions.

Fortunately, enough of the folks that heretofore voted "R" but still actually had brains woke up enough to not pull that lever... with the results you saw on Tuesday and subsequent. As was said elsejournal, the grownups are back in charge. And "taking charge" they are!

I'll skip Joe Farah's unpalatable drabble; I've already had to deal with sucky pizza today, and I'd like to finish my alternate lunch (a quite passable tandoori chicken) in peace, thanks. :)

Though I have a rhetorical question: What is *with* people like Alan Keys, Neal Boortz, etc.? I thought I remembered them being thinking individuals... did the blast from New York eight years ago blow their widdle brains out? Something in the kool-ade? Bad frop? One wonders, if for no other reason than one really does not care to repeat the last eight years...

I much fear that "conservative America" is overwhelmed by paranoid delusions.

It has been for nearly 2 decades, growing progressively more delusional each year.

Alan Keyes and others that question Obama's legitimacy to be president based on (among other things) a lack of some kind of a DNA test, are like moon hoaxers. No matter how much proof is piled upon them, they will refuse to believe it. Thus, it is pointless to submit to any of their tests.

Also, they might be paranoid lunatics.
