I was working from home last week and missed a critical memo. The cluster stability was now running an OS three-years out of date, and would be shut down. Please migrate any data kept on stability to a new filestore cluster.

Yeah, I missed that memo.

970 albums wiped out in the blink of an eye.

Frack.

Oh, I *HATE* it when that happens.

I have them all at home. Guess I'll have to find a way to get them all onto an external hard drive and bring them in.

You can't just scp them in?

Or mount from home via some remote filesystem? That's what I do. I've got a VPN from the office (and laptop) to home, where I mount my fileserver via sshfs. I can't do video, but audio works just fine.

In theory, I could. But the fileserver at home is off most the time because the power supply is dying and I've been too lazy to replace it; the firewall is extraordinarily paranoid, and doesn't allow any incoming connections at all; and Omaha depends on that bandwidth during office hours since she works from home.

Ah. Well, you *could* just scp them into the office overnight then. Might be faster, even throttled, then finding an external drive.
