We've tried the baby food with Dinah. She really seems to want to eat, she's just got a terribly unhappy tummy and only half her mouth working, but we're babying her through different food options as we wrestle with her health.

She didn't like it so much as a commercial brand (Fancy Feast right now), but she at least tried it. Omaha discovered that lifting the plate to chin height is more comfortable for Dinah than bending down, so we've raised it up on a box that used to contain fruit drinks.

Omaha told me that she was going to trek through the snow to get more baby food. Yamaraashi-chan overheard her and said, "Baby food? Why do you guys need baby food? Is there something you're not telling me!?"

After all three of us stopped laughing, I told her it was for the cat. We pointed out that given Omaha's slim, trim condition, it would be months before we needed baby food and Omaha would be making her own baby food herself anyway.

There is a "very sick cat" prescription diet canned food you can get from the vet that my finicky, nearly toothless, allergic-to-everything-from-the-grocery-store cat consumes with gusto no matter how crappy she's feeling. In fact she over-gorged on it and tossed her cookies the first time I fed it to her, so I've been giving her a little bit at a time, mashing some in water and letting her drink it. All she has to do is lap it up that way. It's smooth paste, like liver pate.

It's called z/d (no, I don't know why). Was about $16 for six cans.

Wait a minute, did I miss something? Is Omaha pregnant?

Goodness, no. It was a statement about if Omaha were pregnant, these are the steps she'd be taking to lay in a supply, and not for a while yet. She's not.

Ok...this is starting to creep me out.

First a friend predicted I'd have a baby.
Then another friend said the same.

Recently pregnancy has been coming up in odd places -- including a conversation with engaged friends whose kids are nearly grown but who are apparently (mildly) considering 'starting again'.

That led to a conversation where we determined both LSB and I thought the other was dead-set against the idea.

Then last night I had a dream that I was pregnant.

And now you post this!?

Eh...

You know dozens or rather hundreds of humans; many humans reproduce one or more times in their lives, and the reproduction process takes a while...

Point being, if you're kepping your eye oyt for it, there's always people doing baby stuff, and more people thinking about such a prominent feature of human existence.

Dunno about your 2 friends with their 'predictions' though. Maybe wait to freak out until they organize a shower? :-)
