Veteran's Day

elfsMy family didn't have many veterans that I know of. My father served as a ship-based medic in Korea, but rarely spoke about it, never seemed to have any pride in it, and never made much of a deal about it either way.
My great-uncle Richard on my mother's side was a survivor of Buchenwald, and I'm grateful to Capt. Fredrick Keffer's squad for their efforts, but the last member of that squad, James Hoyt, died earlier this year. For him, I raise a toast, and pray that the need for efforts like his will be rare in the future.
