NSFW stuff I like/found/want/enjoy

I'm spending some (most?) of this weekend at Foolscap, a kind of writerly, literary convention that's really an excuse for those of us who pound the keyboard all day to see each other face-to-face. I'm not feeling it this year; I haven't written nearly as much as I should have, the elections and the economy depress me mightily and take a lot of wind out of my sails. That said, there's another con going this weekend that I wish I'd known about and will hopefully be attending next year: Arse Electronica (subtitled, "Do Androids Sleep With Electronic Sheep?"). I mean, c'mon, how can I go wrong with events titled:
- Datamining Slash Fiction: Automated text analysis of patterns in homoerotic amateur science fiction stories
- Princess Peach the Porn Star: Power in Erotic Video Game Fan Fiction
- What is the 21st-Century Novel?
- Sex-related interfaces in mainstream science fiction
- Performance, Identity, and Subversion: Sex and Gender in the Age of Social Networking
- From Computer-Mediated Sex to Computer-Generated Sexuality: An Outlook on the Posthuman Sexual Trope
- Mechanical morality, Robotic love: the Cultural Representation of Sex Machines in the Modern West

I'm surprised they haven't invited you
Date: 2008-09-28 01:54 am (UTC)I knew it was happening from reading about it on Slashdong (http://www.slashdong.org/), but I never really dug into anything beyond noticing this year's (sub)title.
(I think Violet Blue wrote about it a little while back too.)
There are only so many minutes you have to spend. Some things have to come first, some things have to be skipped... painful as it may be to do so.
Bryan.
