- Quote of the day from Lindsay Lohan?
- "I find it quite interesting that a woman who now is running to be second in command of the United States, only 4 years ago had aspirations to be a television anchor, which is probably all she is qualified to be."
- McCain Hires Lobbyist to Assemble Transition Team
- Remember when John McCain blasted Barack Obama for assembling a transition team before the election had even been held? He claimed that no candidate had ever done that before (Reagan had), and that it was arrogant for Obama to even think about having a transition team before he'd won.
Well, McCain hasn't won, either, but he's putting together his own transition team. And it's interesting, no, that the first person he thinks of to do so is a lobbyist. Does John McCain know anyone but lobbyists? I guess after 26 years they're just the loudest voices and he has no discernment of anything else. - Sarah Palin lied about visiting the troops in Iraq
- First, Sarah Palin's team (has anyone noticed that we never talk about Joe Biden's "team"? Does the man not need one? Or is being part of the "Obama/Biden" team enough?) claimed that she'd been "to Europe" when, in fact, she'd sat on the tarmac in Ireland waiting for her plain to refuel.
Now it turns out that her "trip to Iraq" to visit her troops was actually a trip to Kuwait and never actually visited Iraq. The campaign claimed she'd been in an Iraqi battle zone; apparently, Sarah just can't help lying, just like John. (via ) - Sarah Palin ought to know what the Bush Doctrine is. She might be implementing it soon.
- The link goes to a collection of talking heads saying that Sarah Palin's flub of the "Bush Doctrine" question is no big deal, because most Americans have no idea what it is. Some of the talking heads admit they don't know what it is! These are people in the media who show a significant lack of interest in anything beyond Britney's hoohaa™.
I know what the Bush Doctrine is! Ben reminds us that McCain keeps calling Ahmadinejad "the leader of Iran" because most Americans think he is, whereas in fact Khameni is the leader of Iran. And I knew that too.
I'm more qualified to run the White House than Sarah Palin or John McCain. So are most of you.
Oh, alternative explanation: Sarah was confused by the question because there's more than one Bush Doctrine. Of course, if you've watched the video, you'll see that she had no idea what Gibson was talking about.
Obama yesterday morning said: "There is an old saying that Abraham Lincoln had about one of his opponents, he said 'If you don't stop lying about me, I'm going to have to start telling the truth about you.'"
For some reason, I can imagine Obama and his campaign staff sitting around at a meeting in Chicago, big thick folders in front of them. And in a quiet voice, Obama says, "On my orders, unleash Hell."
I can only hope.

oooh. Even better. Icon of Dubya whose caption is "FNORD." Although I don't know if I'd really want to sully my pages with that kind of image... but it gets the point across.
wonder what *really* prompted them to invade Paki. Maybe he's planning an October Surprise of getting Bin Laden? I hope not.

A LOT of voters (inexplicably) like Sarah Pallin, and the attacks against her force them into explicitly ignoring the facts to defend her.
*sigh*
