This past March, following the advice of my optometrist, I bought "unscratchable" glass lenses instead of the more commonplace plastic. I don't mind the weight; my prescription isn't that strong and the bliss of having lenses that actually last two years overrides any inconveniences.

While Omaha and I were out mountain biking this past month, I dropped my glasses. As you can guess since I'm writing this article, they're scratched. Directly over the ocular point on the left eye. So much for "unscratchable." Dammit.
