John McCain: Just Like You Average American!
Okay, I understand that the average American can't even find Iraq on a map, much less Pakistan. But jumping Horus on a pogo stick, John Freaking McCain, Mr. "There will me more wars in the Middle East," recently expressed his concern about "the situation on the Iraq-Pakistan border." The what?

Okay, either he meant the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, where he claimed against all evidence to see
glimmers of hope, or he meant... well, I dunno. Senior moments and all that.

Iraqi Government: The Sixteen-month plan is the best one, but our buddy over there will break our arm if we mention who put that plan forward.
For those of you playing at home, President al-Maliki this weekend said that Barak Obama's 16-month plan was the "best plan" so far for getting the US out of Iraq.

Personally, I think this totally screws McCain. Either he accepts that Obama has the plan that best suits both governments and that his own plan ("100 years!") is a lame duck, or he claims that the Maliki government's sovereignty isn't relevant to him. Right now, they're spinning it that Maliki was "playing to his domestic (i.e. Iraqi) audience" and didn't really mean what he said.

Support this Legislation!
I can completely get behind this. The freedom of speech and religion should allow us to criticize religious beliefs, no matter how routine, inane, mundane, or unobjectionable they might otherwise be.

Bloggers no swearing so bleeping much.
I am so fucking disappointed to learn that my goddamned fellow bloggers aren't getting shit-faced and putting out anything they fucking well please on the fucking intarwebtubethings.

I think that's an unfair out-of-context quote. It's very clear from the interview that what's he's saying is that if we'd had a Republican president at the time when Bill Clinton was in office, 9/11 could have been prevented.

What he doesn't mention, of course, is that while a Democrat was in the White House, we did go after Bin Laden, twice, once missing him by only hours. And the Republican president, in contrast, blithely ignored Bin Laden even as his own intelligence people were telling him that Bin Laden was determined to strike within the US borders sometime very soon.
