Isn't there something in Hewitt's bible about lying? Barack Obama has consistently been opposed to gay marriage. He has supported gay rights and civil unions, but for his own religious reasons, and lacking any constitutional or traditional impetus, believes that the category "marriage" should be reserved for heterosexual unions.

As for California, that's a state issue. He can say whatever he wants; his opinion on legislative action is irrelevant to the proceedings. As executive, he'll have no power over them. Hewitt just doesn't understand the subtlety of things like, oh, the law. Why does this man have a job again? (via Andrew Sullivan)

In today's program [on Christian Worldview Network] Brannon exposes that lie that Hitler killed homosexuals. Even a homosexual writer admits that is false. Some of Hitler's inner circle were homosexual and bi-sexual. The Brown Shirts started as a homosexual and bisexual organization.

McCain's Message?

James Joyner gives me a very strange little article in which he tries to defend what McCain has been saying rather than how he's been saying it, and says, "And I don't think wanting to drill for more oil while simultaneously trying to end our need for it in the longer term is at all problematic." I agree, but the larger context here is also important: it's not about "drilling for more oil," it's about trying to access problematically deep and hard-to-process crude from environmentally sensitive areas in a manner sufficiently timely to have an impact on our long-term economic well being. And I think the American people understand that, and understand that McCain doesn't have a plan that gets us there at all.
