Okay, I try not to do this twice a day, but if I don't do it now, by tomorrow you will have seen this in a thousand different places. Ever seen the fabulous WW2 film The Bunker? This is hilarious, violates Godwin's Law, and rated NSFW for adult language. Hillary's Downfall:

I saw this over on America Blog via rss which means I got to see it before it was taken down. I thought it was funny as well, but then I read some of the comments on why it should be taken down, specifically the derogatory usage of terms toward gays and lesbians. Considering Hillary's waffling stance on homosexuality, I thought that it was relevant in the video and not a cause to take it down. So I'm curious as to your thoughts.

There are several variants of dubbing that clip. This is my favourite:

(Three BMW MCs in our house, but still very very funny.)

yikes!

Hillary's relationship with gays and lesbians has always been a weak one. As someone pointed out recently, Obama has no trouble meeting with gays and lesbians and defending them in his speeches; Hillary, on the other hand, in attempting to appeal to the blue collar voters she thinks are her base, seems to think using the "G" word would hurt her. (Against McCain!?)

In an interview she did for LOGO in which she was asked to defend her husband's record with respect to DOMA and DADT, she managed, just once, to squeak the word "gay" out. Obama, in contrast, has given interviews to gay-friendly magazines, mentions gays and lesbians in speeches even when he doesn't have to, and generally has a solid record.

Yes, this is over-the-top, but it's illustrative of how people view her now. I don't think it's a bad thing to say that Hillary would use nasty and derogatory language against those she perceives as having turned against her.

I think protesting it would be like saying that, sure, I could write my Yowler stories set between 1900 and 1945, and I could use them to illustrate contemporary attitudes about racism, but I wouldn't be allowed to use the word "nigger" to do so. It's absurd. Of course I need that word; it's the word everyone used back then. Proposing that Hillary would lash out and call people 'dykes' seems, well, wholly in character with the whole Clinton-in-der-Bunker schtick.

And the BT trackers all seem to have the very different 2001 film of the same name.

I'm not sure what it means that US politics can lead to something like this as a joke. I can't think of anything movies have depicted of US history that could have the same effect, but comparing Hillary Clinton to Adolf fucking Hitler is so dumb it makes stupidity seem like Nobel-grade genius.

but the scene where he/she calls Obama a "dandy" just destroyed me. That particular insult just cracks me up. Very rude, very obnoxious, very funny.

Actually, It's a German film from sometime in the last 5-6 years, Downfall". Quite controversial when it was made, as Hitler is still a sensitive subject in the BDR.

Oh, and that's not Anthony Hopkins (different movie)

Bruno Ganz, who was also in Heaven over Berlin, playing an angel. Impressive performances in both movies.

I think you could be right. And the German soundtrack should have been a giveaway too.

Anthony Hopkins played Hitler in a 1981 TV movie called "The Bunker".

*ding* - we have a winner!

Thanks, I could *not* remember his name, but it is/was a brilliant movie and his performance the stand-out.

(I wonder if he could be related to Abel Ganz, who directed a movie about Napoleon back in the '70s)

Look, we either have to laugh or cry... I know which one i prefer. Laughter just channels everything else more productively.
