Nerd ADD and RII

elfsI lost an entire day this weekend to RII (Repetitive Information Injury), a nerd-folk condition first characterized clearly by the blogger Rands. Although I managed to do things "around" my constant surfing, it was still a pretty bad weekend.
I clearly have a case of Nerd ADD (which is basically my ordinary ADD being fed by the firehose known as the Interwebs), and my usual management tools fail me at home. My "to do" notebook spent the entire weekend locked away in my beautiful new bookbag, doing me absolutely no good whatsoever. I have a number of important projects to get underway: a campaign website for one of Omaha's friends, a revision of the Pendorwright home page, the current book, managing Muse, and so on.
I did spend some time with the kids, but I feel like I worked that in "around" my internet addiction, rather than the other way around. At times I would ask myself, "What's the utility of this?" only to have the thought erased by another hit of the refresh button.
I really need to get this under control. The to-do list grows and grows. The funny thing is there have been times when I really have had it under control, and gotten a lot done, and yet somehow the satisfaction of it doesn't stick.
Bleah.
