I think that there are several elements of the music business which are stagnated. It's not just that any standard computer can burn a CD. Areas such as performance rights are stuck in pre-IT systems which fail to get payment to the small guy.

But I'd hate to see the detailed, big brother, tracking needed to pay even the infinitesimal, such as me, the money our songs have earned. Maybe, for the US environment, some sort of medical insurance scheme would be an answer, but then it would be worth writing bad songs.
