Best way to solve both problems would be to move the story (and the other Kitty stories) to late 104 or early 105. This would mean Kitty is borne in 1971. In 1983 (last time she could have seen Ken) she would have been about 12.

In "Brieanna, Part 2" (0058/173) and "P'nyssa's Introduction" (0081/031) it looks as if a small scale sdisk system was already widely used. "The invention of the SDisk system" is surely not something that happend in the last thirteen years...
Do you plan to finish the Backwater storyline somewhen?
