Date: 2006-02-28 09:29 pm (UTC)Nobody who actually built Desktop Search wanted it to be named MSN Search Toolbar with Windows Desktop Search (http://toolbar.msn.com/). And yet, somehow, that's what it's called. I absolutely believe that video was created by disgruntled engineers, bitter about what Marketing did to ensure that nobody will ever look at what they built and go "Hey! Cool!"
(Also, for what it's worth, Scoble is a "technical evangelist." He's not a particularly high-level guy - his job is exposing the human side of the megacorp to the world. This puts him in a good position to visibly carp on many of MS's flaws, which has earned him lots of accolades and lots of hate, often from the same people.)
