Dear Goddess, why isn't there a spam filter for real life?

I haven't read one single article about this certain celebrity fiasco and yet I feel like I know every damn intimate detail from the headlines on screamsheets alone, and now the latest detail is a "Reuter's Top Story?"

Come the Singularity, I hope all three of these so-called celebrities and their whole entourages end up running on a Microsoft OS. I am tired, tired, tired of hearing about such petty, banal, ridiculousness.

I can't find the Reuters article of which you speak, but I have read some of the articles about this "celebrity fiasco", and I suspect you are laying the blame on the wrong people.

As far as I can tell, Brad, Angelina, and Jen would be much happier if their relationships were out of the news. Brad has denied that Angelina had anything to do with his breakup with Jennifer, and he and Angelina haven't said, on the record, much else about their relationship. I admit I haven't been following the Jennifer side of the issue as much as I've been following the Brad/Angelina side (I have an inexplicable interest in her fertility) but I suspect it's much the same on her side, as well.

That hasn't stopped the tabloids from speculation, rumor mongering, etc. I suspect that when the Revolution comes, the paparazzi and "screamsheets" editors will be close inline behind the Marketing Division of the Sirius Cybernetic Division.

Not entirely the principles' fault. Jolie, in particular, hasn't ever seemed to care what the magazines and tabloids say and just keeps on being, well, a total freak, but I like that in a person.

And, remember, demand creates supply, not the other way around. You're not bombarded because the publicists feel the need to pelt you with drama, but because this stuff sells in disturbing quantity.

If it feels like the details can be gotten from the headlines, then the information content is rather low to begin with. :)

You are SO right... we need a spam filter for real life. That's it. Exactly. I haven't read anything about it either. And yet, like you, I know far more personal details about their lives than I'm comfortable with.

Don't be so sure...

Having watched what passes for journalism in more "serious" news, I can't imagine that any of those rags have a budget for investigative journalism that extends too far beyond watching the press releases that the assorted publicists send out.

Maybe not all three of them want publicity, but at least one of 'em does.
