So, this morning, after doing my usual abs and shoulders exercises, I took my bicycle into work. My ride from my house to the park & ride is harder than it should be because there are two large dips that I have to ride through to get there, which means that on cold days I start out downhill, freezing my fingers off, and then have to push hard to make it up the first hill, then dip down again just as I've started to warm up, then take another hard hill up to the bus stop.

Riding into the office from downtown isn't so bad, but again it is mostly uphill. I can make that uphill more pleasant by riding through Seattle Center, but it's still uphill.

I was dizzy and nearly sick when I got in, despite having a decent breakfast and a twenty minute wait. But after I recovered, I felt pretty good and have been more or less productive all morning. Still, I'm not looking forward to the ride home.

Oh! One of my New Year's resolutions was to ride into work at least 50 times this year. I think I mentioned it before. Ah, here it is: One down, forty-nine to go. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/elfs/288928.html)

I know where you start from -- where are you going to, and what chunk of it are you bussing in the middle? I'm curious because I'm starting to do much the same, and I'm actually finding the trek through downtown to be not bad at all; the only uphill that *really* gets me is the climb from the 1st Ave bridge up Highland Park to White Center, which looks like it's going to just keep killing me. The city has a page of commonly-used bike routes that I found immensely helpful.

I'm bussing the freeway part, so essentially it's from my house to the park-and-ride, which is about 3.0 miles (according to google maps), and then from the Seattle Art Museum up Queen Anne Hill to the lower shopping district, which is another 2.1 miles. So, it's about 5.1 miles, not a terrible trek by any stretch of the imagination. 10.2 total each day.

I used to do from the office I am now to along the waterfront and up Delridge to Pigeon Ridge, and I know that's murder. You have my sympathies.
