I had this happen with my old one, although then all it took was loosing it for 3 critical days while the battery died. Now I have redundancy, and Hotsync.

Indeed. I accidentally left my Treo behind on a recent weekend trip to SF, and it was maddening.

Obvious lesson: I need to figure out a way to sync, at a minimum, the databook and addressbook to some personally-accessible web page.

Which is why I own *three* Velos. Luckily, being long discontinued, they are cheap on ebay.
