The libertarian argument against SOPA
Jan. 18th, 2012 05:14 pmSOPA section 104 creates a requirement in law for all sites that provide media archiving or even just comments to actively police the site. Failure to respond to a takedown notice is one thing, but SOPA section 104, which is not limited to "foreign sites," requires that you prevent infringement before it happens and engage in active moderation first or be subject to arbitrary shutdown.
That is a forced taking of my labor-- guard labor, no less!-- to enforce a third party's property rights. From a libertarian standpoint, that's pure evil.
