Well, Kouryou-chan and I played a rollicking game of backgammon, and I listened to Yamaarashi-chan read about twenty minutes of The Wind In The Willows. It was above her reading level but not by much and I think we're going to ratchet it down to Shel Silverstein and the Frog and Toad series. It was quite amazing listening to her, and looking through the homework she's brought home her reading and writing skills are really good! Like I said, my biggest fear is halfway through third grade they're going to run out of things to teach her and she'll be bored with the rest of school. That can be devastating to a bright kid.

The kids, Kouryou-chan especially, love playing with the digital camera, which I don't mind because, hey, it's not like it's costing us any film. The new kernel upgrade did the trick and my laptop no longer crashes when transferring files from the camera. But...

My dentist tells me my tongue
is too big for my mouth.

And Kouryou-chan's new t-shirt came in. I was a little apprehensive about using the kid as a billboard, but she thinks its great and appreciates that this is something really important to her parents.

Kouryou-chan's new t-shirt.

Yes. I didn't recover until late in high school. I blame the grade school experience for my non-existent studying skills and subsequent non-achievement in my studies.

It is possible, I think, although time-consuming, to provide the child with stimulating extracurrcicular activity to provide challenges for her.

Kouryou-chan looks like one of the Pini's elves. Suntop, perhaps, although the gender is wrong. :)

I think you're right there. Certainly my late SO and I kept her two kids stimulated enough... the senior kid is now doing well at Georgia Tech....

Of course, that's what I told [livejournal.com profile] elfs in the first place.... now that the squidget WANTS to learn, all he has to do is keep up.... which can be a formidable task when dealing with the hybrid vigor of two Mensa-grade parents...
