Zombie on my feet...
Apr. 17th, 2004 08:19 pmLast night, about three in the morning, Kouryou-chan sneaks into our bed. And then, deep in sleep, she wets herself. I smacked myself in the forehead with the realization that he'd forgotten to make sure that Kouryou-chan had used the bathroom before going to bed. I summarily dumped her back into her own bed and proceeded to clean up our bed as well as I could. Omaha and I were deathly tired, so we sprayed it with pet stain stuff, covered with an old towel, and went back to bed.
And then at 8:30 this morning, Kouryou-chan comes in and whisper "Mommy, Daddy. I'm awake. I'm dressed!" Groaning, we get out of bed. Neither of us got enough rest, but they weren't going to let us sleep. Even though we both knew perfectly well that minutes after breakfast they'd be out the door like a shot and into the yard to play.
I gave them cereal (we were out of eggs, so I couldn't cook anything breakfasty) and some strawberries (they didn't want any) and then Omaha and I returned to the scene of the crime.
We got out the steam cleaner (best investment we ever made) and ran the upholstery handle over the stain. But there were no suds. I smelled the soap resevoir. It didn't smell right. I dipped my finger in and tasted it. "What is carpet cleaner supposed to taste like anyway?" I asked Omaha. We got out the bottle and I sniffed it. It was much stronger; our soap resevoir was very diluted. I refilled it with real soap. Much better. I swept the kitchen floor while Omaha did laundry and some bookkeeping, then I headed out for my big adventure of the day, taking Lesson 16 of my Japanese classes with me.
I have to say that CD audio learning has absolutely been an eye-opening experience for me. My teacher is infinitely patient and never gets annoyed when I mess up. This has been a perfect experience in language learning, at least for me. I watch the simpler animes, like Chobits or Kita Hei, and I have a "Hey, I understood that!" reaction. It's so interesting. I'm getting it!
lisakit was having a Roof Cleaning Party. It was just me, Lisa,
jenkitty,
technoshaman, and a few others. It wasn't as bad as Lisa made it out to be; a couple hours of sweeping, then cleaning out what we'd just swept into the gutters back out of the gutters. That last part was mostly my job as I'd remembered to bring work gloves, a hat, and sunscreen. When JenKitty showed up, I helped her onto the roof; she's a wee bit nervous of heights and a hand was appreciated. "Any excuse to look down your shirt," I told her. She giggled. Shaman made burgers and chicken, and when it was all done Lisa had a nice, clean roof and I was fed and went back home.
Yamaarashi-chan had asked (no... begged) me to tape some anime pap of Sonic the Hedgehog. So I did, explaining to her the power of PVRs while I did so. She was very intrigued. The current art team working on the show is quite good although in it the anime tropes and shorthands are very commonplace to the point of cliche. And the frame rate is atrocious!
Because I'd eaten at Lisa's so late, I made hamburgers for dinner but didn't eat any. After dinner, we did Yamaarashi-chan's eye exercises once again-- she really needs an adult to watch her and make sure she does them right-- and now she's begging me to play Old Maid with her.
Tonight, I'm going to watch episode three of Chobits and then go to bed.
